When and where is the ALIVE event?
The ALIVE Dance/MIME Conference takes place on Thursday, June 29 at 10 a.m. through Sunday, July 2 (For the finale dance presentation at The Potter’s House). The ALIVE Conference will be held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas, which is located at 650 S. Griffin Street, Dallas, TX 75202. Dancers will meet in the HALL A, ballrooms 1, 2, 3, 4. *On Sunday morning, dancers will meet at The Potter’s House of Dallas, which is located at 6777 West Kiest Blvd., Dallas, TX 75236.
*Actual meeting times for Sunday, July 2 will be disclosed during the first few days of the ALIVE Conference.
How much does it cost to attend the ALIVE event?
The registration cost for the ALIVE Conference is $60, including ALIVE Dance, Woman Thou Art Loosed (WTAL), and ManPower.
What is the conference schedule?
The ALIVE Conference begins on Thursday, June 29 at 10 a.m. through Saturday, July 1 at 12 p.m. For dancers performing on Sunday, July 2, you will have a rehearsal at The Potter’s House church on Saturday 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in order to prepare for the Sunday morning service. On Sunday “call time” takes place at 6:30 a.m. at the church. Please check back soon as we update the class schedule with additional information on actual times, etc.
What do I wear?
All participants will need to dress comfortably; *comfortable clothing includes workout attire.
*Please note that shorts, spaghetti-strapped tops, and revealing tops (showing cleavage, back, and/or midriff) are not allowed.
Do I bring dance garments?
Yes, please bring dance attire of your choice for the concert presentation. Please note that we are asking all participants to bring an overlay of any color or style. This will be worn during the dance presentation.
What is the age limit?
Dancers, aged 13 and up, can participate in the ALIVE Conference. For all dancers between the ages of 13 to 17, you will need to assign one chaperone per five minors. The chaperone must be an adult dancer who is able to stay with the minors during the duration of the ALIVE Conference, including class rotations.
Will I get to dance during service?
Yes, all participants will have the opportunity to dance at The Potter’s House service on Sunday morning as part of the grand finale presentation (See question number 9).
Will there be food or any kind of refreshments?
Please feel free to bring refreshments, including bottled water, granola bars, etc. Lunch will NOT be provided. There are dining areas throughout the facility to purchase lunch during MegaFest.
Will there be products available to purchase?
Yes, each instructor will have items, such as instructional videos, garments, streamers, flags, billows, veils, ribbons, tambourines, and instructional manuals for dance, among other items. There will be numerous vendors with products in the lobby for purchase.
Payment forms accepted include cash and any major credit card.
When is the conference over?
The ALIVE Dance/Mime Conference officially concludes on Saturday, July 1 at noon. However, all participants dancing Sunday morning will have a rehearsal at The Potter’s House on Saturday in order to prepare for the Sunday morning performance. You are responsible for your own transportation Saturday and Sunday to The Potter’s House church in Dallas, TX. Rehearsal time Saturday is 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the church; and “call time” also takes place at the church on Sunday at 6:30 a.m.
Do we dance barefoot or in shoes?
Whether you opt to dance barefoot or in shoes is your personal choice.
Will there be a video recording of the classes or services?
No, recording is NOT allowed.
Can I get a copy of the concert or Sunday presentation?
There may be an opportunity to receive a copy of the concert or Sunday performance. However, at this time, we cannot promise that you will receive a copy. Recordings are managed at the discretion of The Potter’s House church in Dallas, TX.
Is the conference within walking distance from hotels and restaurants?
Yes, the ALIVE Conference will be held in downtown Dallas. However, the final rehearsal is at The Potter’s House on Saturday. You will need your own transportation for that rehearsal and finale performance on Sunday.
Is there a discount for groups?
No, each individual will need to pay for their own conference registration.
Is there a separate class for the teenagers?
No, all participants, ages 13 and up, will rotate classes altogether.
Do I bring anything special for the mime classes?
Yes, please bring black pants, shirt, and socks with your own mime makeup and white gloves.
What do I wear for the Sunday finale performance at The Potter’s House?
Please bring all black attire. You can wear either pants or skirt with a black top, such as a leotard, unitard, or T-shirt. We are asking all participants to bring an overlay of any color or style. This will be worn during the dance presentation.
Can I attend the other class sessions at MegaFest, such as WTAL, ManPower, etc.?
Yes, your ALIVE Conference registration will grant you access to the other sessions at MegaFest.
